I’ve been aware of the wonderful, healthful nature of virgin coconut oil for some time now, and have been using coconut oil exclusively for all food preparation in my home. “Oil Pulling” is in an incredible concept that more and more people are becoming aware of. Dr. Bruce Fife is at the forefront of this research. He states that any cooking oil can be used for Oil Pulling. However, since coconut oil has been proven to have many healthful benefits for one’s body, he recommends that people use virgin coconut oil.
“What makes coconut oil such an effective antimicrobial agent? And what makes coconut oil different from any other dietary fat? The key to unlocking the secret to coconut oil’s remarkable healing powers comes from the study of human breast milk.
Years ago, it was discovered that human breast milk contains a unique group of saturated fats known as medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs). These fats are very different from the fats found in meats and vegetables.
When eaten, the body transforms MCTs into monoglycerides and medium-chain fatty acid (MCFAs), both of which possess powerful antimicrobial properties capable of killing disease-causing bacteria, viruses, and fungi…
What does this have to do with coconut oil? Like mother’s milk, coconut oil also contains MCTs. In fact, coconut oil is composed predominantly of MCTs. The MCTs in coconut oil are identical to those found in mother’s milk and possess the same antimicrobial potential, Dr. Fife.”
Most people don’t have any idea how much bacteria is in their mouths. There is good and bad bacteria there. Generally, this isn’t a problem, as long as we have healthy teeth. The major problem that I have now learned about is how much damage can be caused to your entire body by improperly maintained teeth.
Dr. fife says, “98% of the population has some level of gum disease or tooth decay, and this allows the bacteria to enter the blood steam. Therefore, virtually everyone is susceptible to the harmful effects of bacteria in the mouth, regardless of how clean their teeth are. And that is why oil pulling is so valuable, because it cleans your mouth better than cleaning your teeth or using a mouthwash.
Oil pulling is incredibly effective in brightening teeth, healing gums, preventing bad breath, quenching inflammation, and healing oral infections. It is also effective in treating many systemic conditions throughout the body.”
Dr. Fife also says, “In fact, oil pulling is two to seven times more effective at reducing gingivitis than either brushing or using antiseptic mouthwash.”
For those of you who are not used to the idea of having oil in your mouth, it really isn’t a big deal. It will mix with your saliva and feel like any other mouthwash. I really can’t imagine anyone having a problem with it once they have tried it; especially if they use virgin coconut oil. It has such a light and almost sweet taste to it that it is not a problem for me to swish it around in my mouth for twenty minutes. I do it every morning before breakfast and then later in the afternoon or evening. It’s also supposed to whiten your teeth.
I have written articles on GMO products and how we need to avoid them. Most people don’t know how bad your typical GMO corn oil is. I can’t imagine swishing that terrible stuff in my mouth. When you taste coconut oil, you’ll find that it is a delicate and light tasting oil. And it is wonderful for your body. Try it! I love virgin coconut oil on popcorn. By the way, I’ve researched popping corn, and it’s not GMO corn.
I am a middle aged man who is now beginning to feel the effects of osteoarthritis in my hands. I have only recently begun Oil Pulling, so the jury will be out for some time on whether or not it it will help me with this arthritis, which is now beginning to affect my wrists and finger tips. But after studying this information, and reading Dr. Fife’s book, “The New Arthritis Cure,” I feel very positive about having begun Oil Pulling Therapy. I know it will help my body, and I’m very hopeful that it will also relieve and possibly help to reverse my osteoporosis. I am now making sure that I consume a minimum of four tablespoons of virgin coconut oil every day. If I don’t get enough in cooked meals, I will take a couple of tablespoons of the oil.
One very important aspect of what I’ve learned from Dr. Fife’s research is the topic of root canals. This is a very common procedure that is done by almost every dentist around the world today. A root canal does not do what the dentists say it will do! It doesn’t properly clean and sanitize your teeth. What it does do, is trap the harmful bacteria inside of the tooth, where none of the body’s defenses can reach it. In most cases, the root canalled teeth, when examined, showed no sign of infection, but when it was pulled out it was definitely infected. “100% of root canals are infected to one degree or another. You cannot get rid of the infection, Dr. Bruce Fife.”
Should you decide to have your root canalled teeth removed, make sure you find a dentist who has a good understanding of this problem. Dr. Fife says “The type of dentist you want will proclaim to practice biological or holistic dentistry.”
Dr. Fife uses the word “fort.” The tooth becomes a fortress against your body’s defenses. Then, it can send harmful bacteria from this fortress to areas of your body where there is low or no blood circulation. Then, the bacteria will remain in these areas safely separated from the body’s defenses. One of the favorite places for this bad bacteria to hide is within your joints. Once inside of the joint, the bacteria will begin to destroy it. This is called osteoarthritis. This bacteria can also cause rheumatoid arthritis in the tissues surrounding the joint.
Please take this information and run with it. There is more information available for you, so please do your homework. Let’s continue with our daily battles to remove the many toxins from our bodies!
